Team Leader- Analytical Chemist -12 months contract
Location: Slough Salary: 35-40K

 


Our client is seeking an experienced analytical chemist with good leadership and coaching skills.
The successful candidate will be educated to MPharm, MSc or Ph.D. level in a relevant scientific discipline plus a minimum of several years’ proven practical experience in an analytical laboratory
Duties:
To ensure effective leadership and management of team members and to mentor and coach them towards scientific growth and personal development.
To conduct analytical studies to support dossier registration and authorities requests
To develop new analytical methods for upgrading the knowledge and documentation.
To conduct analytical studies (generics, counterfeits, parallel imports,
inclusion in Pharmacopoeias).
To develop new analytical methods and specifications for regulatory inclusion in Pharmacopeia.
Other Duties:
To effectively manage and lead a team of analytical chemists, demonstrating good self, individual, team and mission leadership skills.
To ensure the principles of GMP and H & S are adhered to, identifying any non-compliance and taking remedial and preventative action.
To prepare, maintain and update SOP within the Department and prepare Protocols, Analytical Procedures and Reports..
To supervise the implementation of studies the key objectives of which are:
· Stability studies, including drug substance and drug product analysis,
· Identification and quantitation of related substances,
· Control of drug product and drug substance,
· Development of new methods
To ensure that all laboratory equipment (HPLC, GC, Karl Fisher, UV, potentiometer, coulometric, dissolution apparatus,…) under his/her supervision and that of subordinate staff is
maintained in good, safe working order and in compliance with GMP.
To effectively manage several studies concurrently across more than one project.
To effectively manage concurrent projects, clearly understanding project goals, tracking and monitoring progress at all times and foreseeing potential issues/problems and taking necessary action to keep projects on track.
To collate, interpret and critically evaluate data and identify the more esoteric anomalies or problems with the data, suggesting and implementing further studies or actions to solve these.
To ensure that data recording and checking is performed in compliance with GMP and that complete, accurate, up-to-date records of the work are maintained in the study files.
To communicate results internally and externally (e.g. professional society conferences) through presentations (oral or poster).
To assess and evaluate new technologies by keeping abreast of new scientific developments with effective dissemination of results and recommendations.
To contribute to the publication of scientific papers to reputable scientific journals.
