Our client is seeking a dynamic and competent individual within their R & D group to carry out feasibility and development studies for new infectious disease products.
Duties
This is primarily a laboratory based role, with the main responsibilities being:
To organise, plan and perform scientific investigations as part of product feasibility, development or improvement projects.
Document clearly, concisely and securely all scientific investigations in specified project books. Report all results and observations to the Project Co-ordinator /Research Manager. Communicate such findings through discussions, meetings and other groups/reports as required.
Participate in the preparation of product documentations, including Manufacturing documents and SOP’s necessary for the manufacture, in process control and QC testing of developed products.
Assist in the preparation of project papers and claim support papers.
Attend and contribute to project team meetings, R&D meetings, staff meetings and other meetings as required.
Ensure that all activities conform to ISO9001.
Ensure that all activities conform to company safety procedures as required by Health and Safety legislation.
Ensure sufficient stocks of reagents, materials and other items are maintained.
Assist in maintenance and calibration of equipment.
Person specification
The job-holder must be technically competent, dynamic and capable of showing initiative. They must be educated to at HND /BSc with an emphasis on scientific subject areas and have some laboratory experience, or have recently gained a degree in a biological subject.
The job-holder must have a basic understanding of scientific principles, have good practical skills and be familiar with a range of laboratory techniques – preferably including some experience in performing immunoassays.
Familiarity with the use of Microsoft office programs would be beneficial. Excellent communication skills will be required as there will be regular interaction with personnel from other departments within the company in the UK and abroad, as well as external collaborators and customers.
